Customizable ranks

My question to you guys is, how customizable do you want your ranks? I could make a command that you can set your rank to anything you want, or do you want achievements that unlock preset rank names? (Private, General, and so on..)

Please reply and let me know what you guys want, right now I'm leaning more towards presets.

Well i guess Ranks should be earned with some new abilities for example 50 score soldier etc and scores should be earned like 1 kill = 2k + 5 score and in each rank to rank up you need more score.
Let's say if we are playing cross fire:

1- spawn with trainee
2- become trainee r2
3- Soldier
4-Soldier r2
5-Soldier r3
6-corpol
7- private
8- Sarge
9- Staff Sarge r1
10- Staff Sarge r2
11- Staff Sarge r3
12- Staff Sarge r4
13- Staff Sarge r5
14- Sarge Major of the army
15- First Lieutenant
16- Second Lieutenant
17- Captain
18- Major
19- Lieutenant Colonel
20- Colonel
21- General
22- General Of the Army

It would be so fun to earn ranks
